Brevity Journal: Antique Rug and Findings
Words have weight. They occupy and define a space. And from the moment I set eyes on the tattered antique rug, I saw this little section and knew exactly what needed to be made of it. A journal. A journal for your words to live in. Not all your words. Not your life's manifesto, but those inner words. The important ones that take up so much space in your head and need to be put down and carried with you. I wanted to make a journal that has seen a thousand travels and is still held dear. A journal that Rumi may have had...
The Cover: This softcover is a piece of antique carpet lined with a cotton linen I dyed with tea. There is a magnetic closure accented with an antique piece of bed hardware.
The Pages: I didn't want the pages to just lie flat and submissive. I wanted them to reach up and become part of the words. So, the pages---there are just 20 (40 double sided)-- are made from recyled kraft paper that has been crumpled and undone, giving them great character and texture.
The Measurements: When closed, 9.5" x 6". The pages are roughly 5.25" w x 7" t.
